President of All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board Shaista Amber has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure use of waqf properties for welfare of Muslim women who are widow or have been divorced. She also demanded a CBI probe into the alleged waqf properties scam all across the country.

Shaista met Modi in New Delhi on August 9 and presented a memorandum on problems facing Muslim women.

Shaista has been carrying out campaigns against ‘Triple Talaq’ and also submitted an affidavit in Supreme Court demanding ban on the same.

“There is lot of waqf land that is under illegal possession. I requested the Prime Minister for opening of shelter homes on waqf land for Muslim women who have been divorced or are widow,” Shaista told newsmen on Friday.

During her interaction with the PM, she also requested the PM for a CBI probe into the waqf properties scam.

“Lot of waqf properties are under illegal possession. Only a CBI probe will unravel the scam,” said Shaista Amber.

Replying to a query related with recent comment of former vice president Hamid Ansari on Muslims feeling insecure in the country, she said: “After remaining at the constitutional post for 10 years there was no need for such a comment just at the time of quitting office.”

On the occasion, Shaista also informed that the Model Nikahnama of the All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board would have photographs of both the bride and the groom and also Aadhar number of the Qazi.
