Rahul helps Chowk Sporting enter semis
LUCKNOW: Rahul struck three goals, including two in the first half, as Chowk Sporting crushed Deccan Return 4-1 to make it to the semi-finals of the District Football League-2017, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday.
Rahul after striking the opening goal in the 13th minutes went on scoring in the 17th and 46th minutes to out his side into a commanding position. Himanshu had a goal in the 29th minute. Deepak scored the consolation goal for the Deccan Return in the 50th minute. Sunrisers Club were the other team, which could make it to the semi-final, brushing aside Cantt Sporting 2-0 in other quarterfinal of the day. Minga drew the first blood in the 20th minute from the right flank (1-0), whereas Sandeep completed the formality with a field goal in the 50th minute (2-0).

DPS (Eldeco) stormed into the final of the Bappa Shree Narain Mishra Memorial Seven-A-Side Inter-School Under-14 Football Tournament, defeating Siddarth Public School 3-0, at the BSNV College ground here on Friday. Jai Chandani scored a hat-trick in the game. Earlier, DPS defeated Col SN Mishra College 3-0, Army Public School ‘Red’ beat Government Inter College 1-0, and Siddarth Public School beat hosts BSNV College 3-2.

DPS Super Stars emerged victorious in the up to class eight category of the 3rd Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial InterSchool Chess Team Championship, collecting 17.5 points at the end of the fifth and the final round, at the Moti Mahal here on Friday. DPS Stars and LMC finished second and third, respectively. LMC players staged a fine show to win both up to class fifth and up to class 12th team championships. They had 15 points in the class fifth category, whereas in the class 12th category they also had 15 points. DPS Knight Riders with 14.5 points secured second position.

The Powergrid Inter-Regional Carrom Tournament-2017 got off to a flying start here on Friday with the participation of 46 players, representing 11 teams of different regions. In the women’s team championship, NR and WR shared points, winning a match each, whereas ER II beat WR II 2-0. The tie between NR II and SR I also ended in 1-1 draw. In the men’s section, NR I beat CC 2-1, WR I beat NR II 2-1, ER I beat NER 2-1, WR II beat NR III 3-0, SR II beat SR I 2-1, NCR beat WR II 2-1, ER II beat CC 2-1.

A district level under-14 boys/ girls table tennis tournament will be held on Sunday, at the Vinaykhand Stadium here. First three place holders would be awarded. Meanwhile, the regional sports office informed that a 5-km cross-country race would be organized on the occasion of the Independence Day on Tuesday.
