Modi to give housing certificates to 15,000 poor
VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give housing certificates to 15,000 poor people under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Varanasi during his two-day visit to the city starting September 22, said chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Speaking at an eve nt held to mark PM Modi’s birthday celebration, Yogi said, “A survey has already been done to identify homeless poor in Varanasi. List of beneficiaries is ready. PM Modi will distribute certificates to 15,000 beneficiaries of PMAY.” He instructed district magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra to ensure that every homeless person gets benefit of the scheme.
Chief minister also flagged off bike rally to spread awareness about cleanliness. Rally covered different streets across the city. Before that he reviewed various developmental schemes and instructed the officials to complete the construction work within deadline.
He said Anna Kshetra being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 13 crore by Shri Kashi Vishwanath Trust should be completed within deadline. While it would make free of cost food available to the poor, others would get food comparatively at a very low rate. He said the PM will unveil and inaugurate 17 projects, including undergoing and those already completed.
He instructed officials to complete preparations for the animal fair at Shahanshahpur village on September 23. He said scientists and farmers will be honoured for developing Gangatiri breed of cows.
MUSLIM WOMEN TO THANK MODI ON TRIPLE TALAQ ISSUE
A group of Muslim women led by social activist Najnin Ansari on Sunday held a meeting to prepare a list of their demands when they call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the city on September 22.
Ansari said she along with 100 Muslim women will welcome PM Modi and thank him for his strong stance against triple talaq, which the Supreme Court banned recently. Ansari said she will discuss various other issues including spreading education among Muslim girls from poor families. She further said that they will also request PM to take steps to generate employment opportunities for educated Muslim women. Among those who attended the meeting are Noorjahan, Najma Parveen, Jubaida, Reshma, Shahnaaz and others.
