BJP to run cleanliness drive for voter connect
LUCKNOW: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to run ‘swachhta abhiyaan’ or cleanliness campaign in all the wards of the state, a move through which it hopes to connect with the voters ahead of the civic polls due in November. The cleanliness campaign would be run till October 2 and culminate with a ‘run for cleanliness’ or ‘swachta marathon’.
After presiding over a meeting held at party headquarters to decide party strategy for civic polls, UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey said the cleanliness drive would be followed by ‘let’s bring BJP’ campaign in each ward. The campaign – ‘chalo vikas ka deep jalayein, apne ghar main bhajapa layein (let’s light a lamp for development, let’s all vote for BJP)’ - would be launched from October 13 to 15. This would be followed by a ‘vikas jyoti utsav’ campaign under which the party cadres would release a ‘lantern shaped balloon’ in each wards on October 18. A door to door voterconnect campaign too would follow, said Pandey.
STEPS FOR EDU PRAISED
The BJP has praised steps taken by the government to boost education. “Over the past few months, the government has taken steps to restore credibility of the examination system. Over 23 lakh dropouts were reported in the past five years. Since the Yogi government came to power, enrolment has grown by 2 lakh,” said UP BJP spokesman Rakesh Tripathi.
