New mayor to take oath today
LUCKNOW: The stage is set for newly elected mayor Sayukta Bhatiya ‘soath taking ceremony here on Tuesday. The newly elected mayor would take oath at a grand ceremony at the Ambedkar auditorium of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University.
Special arrangements are being made at the university for the swearing in, “a senior administrative officer said.
The mayor’s oath ceremony would be followed by another ceremony in which the corporators of all 110 wards would take oath. Union home minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Yogi Adityanath may also attend the event.
Special arrangements have also been made for the chairmen who would be administered oath at their respective nagar panchayats by sub divisional magistrates (SDMs). Other than those in the state capital, 15 other mayors,

corporators and chairmen from 15 municipal corporations, 198 municipalities and 438 town areas across the state would take oath on the day. On Wednesday all the elected mayors, chairmen and corporators would take part in a grand training programme at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Of the 16 Mayors, 14 are from BJP alone and two from BSP. In the municipality chairman posts, BJP won the maximum in 70 places, SP in 45 places, BSP in 29 places, Congress in nine places and independents in 43 places. In the town areas, BJP won 100 chairperson’s posts, SP 83, BSP 45, Congress 17 and Independents 182. ››SEE ALSO P5
