Prez in UP today, Baudh Vihar to be his first stop

From Baudh Vihar, he will proceed to BBAU where he will attend the varsity’s seventh convocatio­n

LUCKNOW/ALLAHABAD: President Ram Nath Kovind will begin his two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh on Friday and his first stoppage will be Baudh Vihar in Risaldar Park where he will pay tributes to the mortal remains of monk Bhante Pragyanand who initiated Dr BR Ambedkar into Buddhism.

Pragyanand passed away on November 30.

This is for the second time the President is on a visit to his home state.

After becoming President, he had visited UP on September 14-15 with Ambedkar Mahasabha office as his first stop.

He will arrive in Lucknow at 9:20 am on Friday and directly go to Baudh Vihar.

From there he will proceed to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) where he will attend the varsity’s seventh convocatio­n, officials said on Thursday.

He will reach BBAU at 10:30 am and stay there for an hour.

From Lucknow, he will leave for Allahabad and reach Bamrauli airport at 12.40pm on Friday.

From there, he would proceed to the Circuit House and have lunch. He will also offer floral tribute to the statue of legendary freedom fighter Chandrashe­khar

Azad at Azad park. Later, he would attend the convocatio­n function at Motillal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) from 3.30pm to 4.30 pm.

After the convocatio­n ceremony, he will return to Circuit House and meet some people after which he would attend the dinner hosted by the High Court. Kovind will spend the night at Circuit House and on Saturday morning will visit the Hanuman temple at Sangam besides perform Arti. From Sangam he will return to Circuit House for breakfast and later attend a function to be organized on Allahabad High Court premises. In view of President’s visit there will be largescale traffic diversion in Lucknow.
