CM, union minister skip PAN-IIM world mgmt meet
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and union minister of state, ministry of communications (independent charge), Manoj Sinha did not turn up at the fifth PAN-IIM World Management Conference that began here on Thursday.
The CM was supposed to inaugurate Digital Street, an expo showcasing leading innovations and technologies on Digital India while Sinha was scheduled to speak on the contribution of the telecom sector in the making of digital India.
When contacted, conference convener Prof Satyabhushan Dash said due to unavoidable reasons the ministers could not make it to the event.
The CM had cited the beginning of the winter session of UP Assembly for his unavailability.
The PAN-IIM conference is an annual event initiated by the Indian institutes of management and supported by the ministry of human resource development, Government of India.
The formal inauguration of the three-day conference commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony by Ajit Prasad, director, IIM Lucknow.
The theme of the event is ‘The Making of Digital India: Management Perspectives’. The deliberations will be focused on the Digital India initiative and its implications and opportunities from a management point of view.
Nitin Seth, chief executive officer, Incedo Inc. was the keynote speaker of the ceremony, who gave an address on the topic ‘New Rules of Management in the Era of Technology Disruption’.
The highlight of the day was a panel discussion on Digital Healthcare: Challenges and Opportunities.
The panelists included Dr VK Singh - MD, InnovatioCuris, Dr Deepak Agarwal - professor, neurosurgery, ex-chairman, computerisation & IT at AIIMS and Thulasiraj Ravilla - executive director – LAICO & director operations, Aravind Eye Care System.
