‘Organic, flower and vegetable farming can increase earnings’
LUCKNOW: A meeting of farmers, agri-horti tech experts from the country and partner nation Japan saw an interesting mix of ideas to improve farming and increase income come forth at the three-day 5th International AgriHorti Tech held at Smriti Upvan, which concluded on Thursday.
Farmers were advised to plant vegetables and flowers to earn more money. Those residing in parched Bundelkhand were given advise to go for drip and splinter farming to mitigate water crisis in their region.
Around one lakh farmers and experts participated at the event wherein 84 companies had set-up their stalls at the exhibition, including 28 renowned Japanese companies.
The event was organised jointly by the PHD Chamber and the UP government in which Japan was a partner nation.
Co-chairman, UP chapter, PHD Chamber, Mukesh Singh handed over certificates to participating companies at the conclud- ing ceremony. “Companies associated with the farming business and financial institutions solved farmers’ problems at event,” he said.
He also pointed out that PHD Chamber was willing to work with the Centre and the state government to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
Farmers of eastern Uttar Pradesh, who attended the exhibition, were advised to seek guidance from the Vegetable Research Institute at Banaras Hindu University, if they were willing to switch over to vegetable farming.
The agrarians were also apprised of organic farming and its future in the country.
According to the PHD Chamber of Commerce, the 28 Japanese companies, which attended the exhibition, expressed their willingness to invest in dairy, farming and solar power sector in Uttar Pradesh.
For this, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, UP chapter, is going to play a facilitator between the state government and Japanese companies.
