LUCKNOW: Senior BJP leader Varun Gandhi on Thursday expressed concern over the growing difference between haves and have nots and said peace could only prevail (in the country) if the financial condition of the people improved.

Gandhi, who was speaking at the programme ‘The peace dialogue’ jointly organised by UP AIESEC and Citizen forum, also urged the youth to contribute towards nation building.

Gandhi also gave an example of a meritorious blind student, who despite the disability managed to score well in his career and became an engineer.

“The boy also got many offers from companies abroad but he preferred to stay back in India, where he established a factory and gave employment to the visually impaired youths. This was his contribution towards nation building,” he said.

‘The peace dialogue’ also witnessed the participation of other eminent speakers and youths from seven different countries. Bollywood actor Rahul Roy, who was one of the speakers, termed films as the best example of togetherness and harmony. Roy said, “films are the best examples of togetherness where people, irrespective of their caste, colour and creed unite to work together as a family.”

In present times, Roy said, there was need of a similar bonding among the masses in the society. Pramod Krishnam, peethadeshwar acharya of Kalki Dham, too echoed similar sentiments and said it’s not the religion but the so called ‘thekedaars’, who were breaching the peace.

Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali urged the masses to boycott such ‘thekedaars’.

Congress leader Sanjay Singh, social worker Aabha Singh, CPI leader Atul Anjan and others too expressed their views on the subject. Abbas Haider, organiser of the event said, the event came out well as many eminent personalities expressed their views on the burning issue.
