Qualifier Alex’s winning spree continues in singles
LUCKNOW:Qualifier Alex Solanki continued with his winning spree even on Thursday, brushing aside third seed Gautam Anand in straight sets to make it to the men’s singles final of the AITA Tennis Tournament, at the SDS Tennis Academy here. Now, he will take on Arpit Sharma, who also disposed off his unseeded opponent also in straight sets.
Delhi’s Solanki didn’t allow local challenger Gautam to dictate terms while winning by 6-1, 6-1 in identical fashion, whereas Rajasthan’s Arpit, who is fifth seeded here, knocked out Gautam Krishnan 6-0, 6-3.
Exit of Gautam brought curtains from Uttar Pradesh in the tournament.
In the women’s section, top seeded Kaaviya Balasubramanian of Tamil Nadu booked her place in the final, outplaying fifth seeded Nikita Pinto 6-3, 6-2 in the first semi-final, whereas Mahitha Dadi Reddy of Andhra Pradesh toppled second seeded Deepshika Saw of Gujarat 6-3, 6-2.
On Friday, all the finals begin at 10.00 am.
