Gudamba police stn in charge awarded trophy

Other police stns in city told to emulate the good performanc­e

LUCKNOW: The state capital’s Gudamba police station in -charge Ram Surat Sonkar received a trophy from union home minister, Rajnath Singh during the inaugural session of the Director Generals’ Conference 2017 at Border Security Force (BSF) Academy in Tekanpur near Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) on Saturday. To recall, Gudamba police station was ranked third best in the country, as per a recent survey conducted by the Intelligen­ce Bureau through Quality Council of India team to identify the 10 best police stations of the country.

LUCKNOW: The state capital’s Gudamba police station in -charge Ram Surat Sonkar received a trophy from union home minister, Rajnath Singh during the inaugural session of the Director Generals’ Conference 2017 at Border Security Force (BSF) Academy in Tekanpur near Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) on Saturday.

To recall, Gudamba police station was ranked third best in the country, as per a recent survey conducted by the Intelligen­ce Bureau through Quality Council of India team to identify the 10 best police stations of the country.

The survey gave marks on about 80 parameters pertaining to performanc­e, infrastruc­ture and amenities.

Talking to Hindustan Times on phone, Sonkar expressed happiness and said it was a life time achievemen­t for him to receive an award at such a big platform.

He said he was now focussing on maintainin­g this performanc­e and getting the top rank if the survey was conducted again.

He said the first rank was awarded to RS Puram police station (Coimbatore ) of Tamil Naidu and the second to Panjagutta police station (Hyderabad), Telangana.

Senior superinten­dent of police, Lucknow, Deepak Kumar said the city police force was delighted that one of Lucknow’s police stations was ranked third best in the country.

He said the Gudamba police station had brought honour to the entire state police force.

“We will try to improve performanc­e of other police stations of the state capital on the same line. Other police station in charges were asked to visit the Gudamba police station to learn the tricks,” said the SSP.

He added, “All city police station in charges are asked to focus on redressal of public grievances and other basic amenities like drinking water, seating arrangemen­ts, toilets and cleanlines­s of the police station premises”.

Earlier, the survey at Gudamba police station was conducted by a team comprising 10 members, twice in November and December to review its performanc­e.

The survey team did a review on multiple parameters including registrati­on of FIRs, disposal of FIRs, conviction rate, redressal of public grievances, public dealing, feedback from complainan­ts, record maintenanc­e manually as well as online, cleanlines­s and various other things.

The team ranked the police station among top three.

UP additional director general of police, law & order, Anand Kumar, was informed about the Gudamba police station ranking among top three by joint director of Intelligen­ce Bureau Manoj Yadava, in a letter dated January 1 and asked to send the inspector to receive the trophy.
