Other police stns in city told to emulate the good performance
LUCKNOW: The state capital’s Gudamba police station in -charge Ram Surat Sonkar received a trophy from union home minister, Rajnath Singh during the inaugural session of the Director Generals’ Conference 2017 at Border Security Force (BSF) Academy in Tekanpur near Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) on Saturday. To recall, Gudamba police station was ranked third best in the country, as per a recent survey conducted by the Intelligence Bureau through Quality Council of India team to identify the 10 best police stations of the country.

To recall, Gudamba police station was ranked third best in the country, as per a recent survey conducted by the Intelligence Bureau through Quality Council of India team to identify the 10 best police stations of the country.
The survey gave marks on about 80 parameters pertaining to performance, infrastructure and amenities.
Talking to Hindustan Times on phone, Sonkar expressed happiness and said it was a life time achievement for him to receive an award at such a big platform.
He said he was now focussing on maintaining this performance and getting the top rank if the survey was conducted again.
He said the first rank was awarded to RS Puram police station (Coimbatore ) of Tamil Naidu and the second to Panjagutta police station (Hyderabad), Telangana.
Senior superintendent of police, Lucknow, Deepak Kumar said the city police force was delighted that one of Lucknow’s police stations was ranked third best in the country.
He said the Gudamba police station had brought honour to the entire state police force.
“We will try to improve performance of other police stations of the state capital on the same line. Other police station in charges were asked to visit the Gudamba police station to learn the tricks,” said the SSP.
He added, “All city police station in charges are asked to focus on redressal of public grievances and other basic amenities like drinking water, seating arrangements, toilets and cleanliness of the police station premises”.
Earlier, the survey at Gudamba police station was conducted by a team comprising 10 members, twice in November and December to review its performance.
The survey team did a review on multiple parameters including registration of FIRs, disposal of FIRs, conviction rate, redressal of public grievances, public dealing, feedback from complainants, record maintenance manually as well as online, cleanliness and various other things.
The team ranked the police station among top three.
UP additional director general of police, law & order, Anand Kumar, was informed about the Gudamba police station ranking among top three by joint director of Intelligence Bureau Manoj Yadava, in a letter dated January 1 and asked to send the inspector to receive the trophy.
