LUCKNOW: The city police are trying to nab the miscreants involved in the sensational dacoity at a jewellery showroom in Aliganj on Friday with the help of CCTV footage procured from the commercial establishments in the area.

It has been four days to the daylight dacoity but cops are yet to arrest any of the five miscreants. The CCTV footages could not be procured from the showroom as cameras were not operational at the time of the dacoity.

One of the miscreants was identified in the footage procured from a nearby shop. The police have carried out raids at possible hideouts of the identified miscreant but failed to nab him.

To recall, three armed and masked miscreants looted gold and diamond ornaments worth several lakhs after barging into Kishore Jewellers store near Purania crossing in Aliganj on January 5, while two miscreants kept a watch by remaining outside the showroom.

An employee of the shop, Vishal Kumar, was beaten up when he tried to catch hold of one of the miscreants when they were about to leave after collecting the valuables. The looted shop is merely 300 metres away from Purania police outpost.

At the time of incident, shop owner Vipin Rastogi had left for lunch and Kumar was alone at the time of the attack. Probe suggests that the assailants were well aware of shop owner’s daily routine and were waiting somewhere near the shop for him to leave for lunch. Rastogi told the police that he used to go for lunch daily almost at the same time, but his three employees used to be there at the shop.

On January 5, Kumar was alone as another employee, Krishnakant, was on leave and the third staffer, Harish Shukla, had gone out for some work related to the shop. Kumar told the cops that three miscreants, wearing monkey caps, looted the shop taking him at gunpoint.
