Protest over removal of loudspeaker

LUCKNOW: Many people blocked the road to protest against the removal of a loudspeaker from a mosque in Telibagh market on Rae Bareli road in PGI area here on Wednesday. But the matter was resolved soon as the police made the protestors aware about the state government’s directive to ban use of loudspeakers at religious and public places without permission.

But the matter was resolved soon as the police made the protestors aware about the state government’s directive to ban use of loudspeakers at religious and public places without permission.

Inspector of PGI police station, AK Rai said the incident occurred due to lack of awareness. He said nearly 100 people gathered to express their resentment when an administration team reached there to remove the loudspeaker.

The protestors later agreed to the removal of the loudspeaker when they were also explained about the court’s order over noise pollution regulation. Loudspeakers installed without permission at other installations were also removed on Wednesday, he added. The HC had last month asked the state government whether loudspeakers or public address systems at mosques, temples, churches, and gurdwaras, among other places, were installed after obtaining a written permission from the authorities concerned.
