UP ranks third in public grievance redressal

-

LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh has ranked third among 29 states in clearing public grievances received through the Central Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), officials in the UP chief minister’s secretariat said.

A letter from the union ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions that maintains CPGRAMS shows the state’s rank as third. The letter was received by the chief minister’s office

Uttar Pradesh had a 68.89% grievance disposal rate. The state cleared 1,69,950 out of 2,46,712 public complaints in four years, the letter said. It finished behind behind Chattisgarh (83.91% disposal) and Tamil Nadu (71.26%), the letter said.

A few union territories like Puducherry were also ranked higher than many states, including UP, but state government officials pointed out the disposal rates of UTs with a lower population and fewer grievances was bound to be higher.

“I guess UP’s performance in clearing its grievances was important among the 29 states, both big and small,” the official said, adding the rankings were proof of chief minister Yogi Adityanath government’s focus on clearing grievances.

“The kind of focus on clearing public grievances that is there now wasn’t there before. You will mostly find ministers in their offices on time, clearing grievances. With ministers in office, the officials too are beginning to respond. The CPGRAMS list has come out at the right time to encourage us,” a senior government official said.
