MEERUT: Exposing the tall claims of UP 100 service, policemen on Thursday allegedly refused to take two injured youths to the hospital in Saharanpur on the pretext that their blood would spoil the patrol vehicle.

When the policemen refused to budge, local residents took the injured to the hospital in an autorickshaw where they succumbed to injuries.

Senior police officers swung into action when a three-minute video purportedly showing the policemen refusing help to the injured youths went viral on the social media.

SP Saharanpur, Prabal Pratap Singh said: “Two constables and a head constable on duty have been suspended. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident. The probe report will be submitted with 24 hours.”

He said two friends – Arpit Khurana and Sunny (both 17) of Setia Vihar locality – were returning to their houses when their motorcycle hit an electricity pole in Beri Bagh after which they fell in a deep drain.

Hearing their screams, the local residents rushed to the spot and pulled them out. They sustained grievous head injuries in the incident. On getting information, a UP 100 patrol vehicle reached the spot. Eyewitnesses alleged that the policemen on duty refused to shift the youths to the hospital, saying their blood would spoil the vehicle.
