LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a fresh case against former Noida chief maintenance engineer (CME) Yadav Singh for allegedly awarding contracts worth Rs 116.39 crore to five companies in gross violation of tender norms and procedures set by Noida Authority, the premier investigating agency said.

The CBI officials also conducted searches at the establishment of Yadav Singh and the private companies in eight places — five in Noida, two in Delhi and one in Ranchi.

A CBI spokesperson said the case was lodged on allegations of criminal conspiracy, misuse of official position and regular acceptance of bribe by Yadav Singh from contractors.

While Noida Authority suffered losses, the private contractors made corresponding gains, the spokesperson said.

Besides Yadav Singh, the CBI registered the case against Javed Ahmed, owner of Gul Engineers Company; Sai Raju, Manish Kumar and Prem Pradeep, all directors of SMP Technology Private Limited; Kumar Saurav and Prem Pradeep, both directors of Abu Infracon Private Limited; Sanjay Kumar Gupta of Sanjay Electricals and Sanjay Kumar Sharma of Shakambari Projects, Ranchi, and unidentified officers of the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida).

The case was filed under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code and section 13 (2)r/w, 13 (1)(b) and 13 (1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Yadav Singh is already facing two cases related to corruption and disproportionate assets.

In those two cases, he has been accused of taking commissions, paying cuts to others out of them, resorting to favouritism, improper tendering and contract allotments of Noida projects and money laundering.

Income tax raids in November 2014 and the Noida authority report indicate that Yadav Singh executed projects worth Rs 8,000 crore in Noida in 12 years. In the I-T raids on his house and properties, Rs 10 crore cash and two kilogram of diamond and gold jewellery were allegedly found.
