‘Om’ chanting has positive impact on health: Salma Ansari

ALIGARH:Students of the Al Noor charitable society’s ‘Chacha Nehru’ madarsa in the city have started chanting ‘Om’ and ‘Allah’ for ten minutes every morning.

Addressing media persons during her visit to the lock city on Friday, Salma Ansari, wife of former Vice President Hamid Ansari and chairperso­n of the Al Noor charitable society, said, “Recitation of ‘Om’ has a positive impact on health. Chanting both ‘Allah’ and ‘Om’ helps provide more oxygen to heart and lungs.”

Students of different faiths study at the ‘Chacha Nehru’ madarsa located at Baraula bypass here. Ansari said that the move will help strengthen composite culture in the city and the country.

She further said that the madarsa’s theology department encourages children to read all holy books -- Quran, Bhagwad Gita,Guru Granth Sahib and Bible -- to help them become open minded.

Talking about the merits of meditation, she said, “‘Dhyan’ can help people save themselves from the problems of high blood pressure, heart diseases and insomnia. Meditation also makes you aware of your own good feelings towards others.”

MADARSA DISPLAYS PM MODI’S PHOTO

Meanwhile, a government­aided madarsa, Lutfiya Arabia at Upper Kot, has displayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph in the principal’s room. Madarsa authoritie­s clarified the move was their own initiative.

Vice principal Maulana Mohd Israel told HT, “No government order has been received for displaying PM Modi’s photo in the madarsa, but we have put up his picture in the principal’s room.”
