Yogi govt links ‘one district one product’ with Centre’s schemes

The project of the state government aims to promote 75 products of as many districts of UP

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘one district one product’ scheme on UP Divas at Awadh Shilp Gram here on Wednesday to promote indigenous products of the state at the national level.

In a bid to make the scheme successful, the state government has linked it with several central schemes, including Mudra, PM Employment Guarantee Programme and Stand UP. This prestigiou­s project of the Yogi Adityanath government aims to promote 75 products of as many districts of the state.

“The government plans to generate employment for 20 lakh people through its ‘one district one product’ scheme,” said Yogi Adityanath.

The products include the world famous carpets of Bhadohi, brassware of Moradabad, locks of Aligarh, black pottery of Mirzapur, crockery of Khurja and leather of Agra and Kanpur,

the department of micro small and medium enterprise­s said.

At the Awadh Shilp Gram, a shop each has been allotted to every district to display the products. Famous artisans or traders of respective districts are also selling their wares at these outlets.

The state government will provide financial and marketing support to artisans or traders engaged in making these products. It will also help with technical upgrade.

Uttar Pradesh accounts for

44% of India’s handicraft­s exports, including 39% of India carpet and 26% leather and leather products exports. Overall, Uttar Pradesh’s share in total exports from India is 4.73%.

At the first UP Divas event, schemes of 40 department­s involving expenditur­e of ₹25,000 crore were launched. These included 109 projects of ₹941.96 crore for Lucknow. Under the Mudra Yojna and Stand UP India scheme, 1,200 certificat­es and cheques were distribute­d. The Shabri Poshan app was also launched at the event.

“Uttar Pradesh has a glorious history and is the land of Ram, Krishna and Buddha,” said vice president Venkaiah Naidu at the first UP Diwas event. “Twentyfour states have been celebratin­g their foundation day. I am feeling happy now UP is also celebratin­g its foundation day,” said Governor Ram Naik.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives special attention to UP. He will lay the foundation stone of Poorvancha­l Expressway in March 2018. This expressway will be opened in 24 months. UP has had a glorious history and we all should be proud of it. Ancient India had 16 Maha Janpads. Out of them, eight were in UP.”
