Traffic diversions on January 26

LUCKNOW: A full dress rehearsal for Republic Day celebratio­ns was conducted in the state capital on Wednesday.

The parade route was the same that will be followed on January 26.

It started at 8am from Bal Vidya Mandir in Charbagh and moved to Latouche road through Mohan Hotel, Bansmandi crossing, Lalkuan, Rana Pratap crossing and reached Vidhan Bhawan via Burlington crossing.

The rehearsal parade moved to GPO crossing and then to Hindi Sansthan via Mayfair building, KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium, from where it proceeded towards Moti Mahal to Sikandarba­gh crossing and finally concluded at DSO crossing in Bandariyab­agh via Ashok Marg.

Traffic from Charbagh to Hazratganj remained diverted on the day. Similar diversion would be in force on January 26.

People coming from Mawaiya will be able to go from Nathya crossing to Hazratganj via Rakabganj and Qaiserbagh.

Those from Raqabganj or Aminabad will go from Nathya crossing to Mawaiya while commuters from AP Sen road crossing could reach Hazratganj via KKC. Traffic from Sadar Cantt or Bandariya Bagh could go to Hazratganj via Golf club.

Vehicles coming from Hazratganj to Mayfair could proceed via Ashok Marg, Mirabai marg and Sikanderba­gh.

Those coming from Dalibagh colony can go to Hazratganj via Jiamau and Cantt while vehicles from Hazratganj can reach Mayfair via Saharaganj, Chiraiyajh­eel and Clarks Awadh crossing.

District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said the change in the existing parade route was in wake of the ongoing Metro work at various points in the state capital.
