‘Revert nontech KGMU staff to parent dept’
LUCKNOW: The employees’ association of KGMU has demanded that the non-technical staff working in clinical department be reverted back to the departments in which they were initially posted.
Sharing an office order with the media, general secretary of the association Pradip Gangwar said that there were 25 staff members who had been posted in clinical departments. “There are eight cooks who are working in various departments at places such as operations theatres and ICUs. Others are peons, guards and safai workers who know nothing about patient care,” he said .
“The treatment is compromised and the staff is also at risk as they don’t know how to protect themselves from hospital based infection,” he said. He said that the university administration should take a decision immediately. “If they do not take action we shall take the matter to the state government,” he said.
KGMU spokesperson Prof NS Verma said that such shifting of staff was done as the role of class four employees was not defined and they were at times deployed as helpers. “When the work for which the fourth class employees are appointed gets over they are shifted to other jobs . Such shifting is done as per the need,” said Prof Verma.
