Two women strangled, bodies burnt in Bulandshah­r

MEERUT: Two women were strangulat­ed and set afire in their house in Bahapur village of BB Nagar area of Bulandshah­r on Thursday evening, police said.

Additional director general (ADG), Meerut zone, Prashant Kumar said investigat­ion was underway and the accused would be arrested soon.

Police said the accelerato­r wire of a motorcycle was used to strangulat­e Sheelu, 22, and her cousin Shivani, 20, when they were alone at the house. The bodies were burnt on the bed, they said. Senior police officials reached the house and forensic teams collected evidence from the spot for testing. Police said the telephone call details of the girls’ phones were being examined to identify the accused.

February 18 and the family had gone for shopping. His daughter Sheelu and her cousin Shivani stayed back at the house, he said.

He said he spoke to Sheelu over the phone at around 4 pm.

“When we returned at around 6 pm, we found their partially burnt bodies on the beds in separate rooms. Accelerato­r wire was found around Shivani’s neck,” he told the police.
