GORAKHPUR : Putting speculations of fielding a joint candidate for the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha bypoll to rest, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Govind Chaudhary on Sunday said the party would go it alone in the election.

Addressing media persons after a meeting with party workers to review preparations for the election scheduled for March 11, Chaudhary alleged that chief minister Yogi Adityanath was making false promises to the people for political gains.

“The reputation of Gorakhnath mutt is also diminished due to the CM’s false promises,” he said.

Condemning terror attack on military camp in Jammu & Kashmir, Chaudhary said terrorism would not end till the time BJP was in power.

“Terror attacks have become common under the present government,” he added.

Slamming the government for closing down slaughterhouses, he said: “BJP government is accusing us of giving priority to slaughterhouses and is patting its back for opening ITIs in its place. They don’t know that big exporters of meat belong to BJP. Why the central government is not banning export of meat? Once it does so, slaughterhouses will automatically shut down.”

“The newly-constructed GIDA (Gorakhpur industrial development area) building was constructed during the SP regime but the CM inaugurated it taking credit for it. Loan waiver brought more difficulty for farmers. This government is fooling farmers, youths and businessmen,” he said.

Asked about the alleged unruly behaviour of SP leaders who threw paper balls on the governor during his address in the assembly, he said the MLAs were only trying to raise the problems of farmers, youths and people.
