3 HELD FOR LEAKING CLASS 12 PAPERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
VARANASI: Three members of a gang were on Tuesday arrested for their alleged involvement in leaking class 12 physics papers of the ongoing UP Board exam on social media in Chandauli district, a police officer said.
Superintendent of police, Chandauli, Santosh Singh confirmed the arrest of the trio.
“A case has been registered against them under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducting delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of harming reputation), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the IPC and 4/10 of examination act against them,” he said.
The SP said they were sent to jail.
The police officer said first and second papers of physics went viral during the exam on February 15 and February 17.
Two cases were registered in this connection at Chandauli police station and a probe began to nab those involved in the illegal act, the officer added.
The cop said the probe revealed role of the three persons namely Jeetendra Kumar, a teacher at Kerala Public School, Kanjipur in Syyedraja area of the district, Ruhul Amin, manager of Maulana Azad Inter College, Naudar, in Ballua area and owner of a coaching Ranjan Singh.
A team was formed to arrest them, the officer added.
As per SP Santosh Singh, photocopies and handwritten copies of physics first and second exam papers of class 12, five mobile phones and Rs 8,200 cash were recovered from their possession.
