Ten­sion over dam­aged gate named af­ter Ambed­kar

AL­LA­HABAD : Ten­sion gripped Sarai Hari­ram vil­lage un­der Nawab­ganj police sta­tion of Trans-Ganga af­ter a gate named af­ter ar­chi­tect of In­dian Con­sti­tu­tion Dr BR Ambed­kar made at the en­trance of the vil­lage was found dam­aged on Tues­day . Fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent, Dalit men and women in large num­bers gheraoed Nawab­ganj police sta­tion but cops al­legedly took no ac­tion. En­raged over it, the vil­lagers ap­proached cir­cle of­fi­cer, So­raon, Ji­ten­dra Giri in the evening and made a com­plaint. Ac­cord­ing to Giri, tak­ing se­ri­ous note of the in­ci­dent Nawab­ganj police were in­structed to visit the scene and take ac­tion af­ter an in­ves­ti­ga­tion. The vil­lagers claimed that the Ambed­kar gate was con­structed sev­eral years back.
