Tension over damaged gate named after Ambedkar

ALLAHABAD : Tension gripped Sarai Hariram village under Nawabganj police station of Trans-Ganga after a gate named after architect of Indian Constituti­on Dr BR Ambedkar made at the entrance of the village was found damaged on Tuesday . Following the incident, Dalit men and women in large numbers gheraoed Nawabganj police station but cops allegedly took no action. Enraged over it, the villagers approached circle officer, Soraon, Jitendra Giri in the evening and made a complaint. According to Giri, taking serious note of the incident Nawabganj police were instructed to visit the scene and take action after an investigat­ion. The villagers claimed that the Ambedkar gate was constructe­d several years back.
