LUCKNOW : Hosts Sound Images Club stormed into the final of the 2nd Sagar Khayyami Memorial ‘A’ division cricket tournament, scripting a facile 153-run win against Northern Railway, at the Chowk stadium here on Tuesday. Yadvendra Yadav (82, 83b, 10x4, 1x6) and Siddharth Das (70, 56b, 8x4, 1x6) helped SIC pile up 250 in 39.4 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Later, Mitrakant Yadav (5/29) and Ravinder Solanki (3/31) helped NR floor for paltry 97 in 23 overs.

ASCA IN SEMIS

A sparkling half-century by Manikant Sharma and a fourwicket haul by Shashank Verma helped Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy (ASCA) enter semi-finals of the Under-16 Ranjana Singh memorial cricket tournament, defeating Unity Cricket Academy at the Multi Activity Centre here on Tuesday.

SUSPENDED

Cricket Associatio­n Lucknow on Tuesday suspended Rudresh Singh of Tariq Cricket Club for one-month for playing for some other team in a tournament last month. The cricketer has been barred from all activities of the CAL. Meanwhile, CAL announced a 17-member team for All-India Shubhas Memorial tournament to be played at Beena (MP) from March 15. The team included Rahul Rawat, Karan Singh, Pranshu Anand, R Solanki, Kritagya Singh, Prabhnoor Singh, Chandresh Kumar, Vipin Chandra, Pranshu Srivastava, Mohit Yadav, Hasab Akhtar, Vishvajit Mishra, Atif, Ansh Yadav, Abhishek Singh and Sandeep Yadav.

FIDE INSTRUCTOR

Former UP chess champion Pawan Botham has successful­ly completed the FIDE Instructor exam at Mohali in Punjab during the FIDE trainers seminar. Pawan happens to be first chess player from Lucknow to get the FI title.

FINE SHOW

UP men finished top in the senior national judo championsh­ip, winning two gold medals. They were followed by Punjab, which had one gold, one silver and one bronze. Lucknow’s Vijay Kumar Yadav was named best male judoka.

SELECTED

Taekwondo exponent Pooja Raghav, a trainee at the STC, Lucknow has been selected to participat­e in the junior world taekwondo championsh­ip to be held in Tunisia from April 9 to 12. Another trainee Priyanka Kumari, has also been selected for the Youth Olympic qualificat­ion tournament.
