Shivam guides MCA enter JKP Trophy final
LUCKNOW: A six-wicket haul by offie Shivam Chaudhary helped favourites Meerut Cricket Association crush Varanasi Cricket Association by six wickets to make it to the final of the 4th JKP Trophy State Cricket Tournament, at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday. Now, they play against local outfits Akhil I nfra Cricket Club on Thursday.
Shivam ripped through VCA batting, bagging six for 28 as rivals got out for 133 in 36.3 overs. In reply, MCA despite losing four wickets for just 30, romped home in 27.5 overs. Ranji Trophy cricketer Umang Sharma smashed an unbeaten 77 in 81 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes. Sameer Chaudhary also made unbeaten 33 with three fours.

KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium Trainees defeated Lucknow Colts by five wickets to collect full points in the CAL’s C division league, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Wednesday. Tausif struck 50 in 34 balls with the help of eight fours and a six. In other matches of the day, National Cricket Club beat Bright Way Cricket Club by seven wickets, and Microlit Club beat Jaipuria Cricket Academy by three runs in a thrilling encounter.

Young Yash Varma won the men’s singles title at the PTA District Tennis Championship, defeating Manu Vikram Singh Rajavat in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, at the RK Senior Secondary School here in Aliganj. Arshia beat Meenu Pandey 6-3 to emerge victorious in the women’s section. In the boys under-16 final, Vansh Yadav beat Tarun Randhawa 6-1, 6-2, while Arshia beat Yeti Bisen 6-2, 6-1 in the girls category. Om Yadav and Yeti Bisen won boys and girls titles in under-14 category.

Uttar Pradesh soft tennis players staged a fine show at the 11th Sub-Junior National Championship at Ahmedabad, winning two gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Tanushree Pandey, Sasa Katiyar and Pranay Arora bagged individual medals, whereas boys and girls teams win bronze medals in team events.
