Atul taken to Unnao as probe continues
UNNAO: Hectic activities were witnessed in Makhi village of Unnao on Wednesday as teams of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued their probe into the rape of a teenage girl allegedly by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and the death of her father.
A senior CBI officer said a team of officials in Lucknow took Atul Sengar, younger brother of the BJP MLA, to Makhi village.
Atul and four other accused – Shailu Singh, Vineet Mishra, Bauva Singh and Sonu Singh – were brought to the village at around 3 pm and remained inside a blue jail vehicle for over two hours under the scorching sun, he said.
The CBI officer said the team also reached the local court and took in its possession the case diary of the rape case registered by the girl in June last year.
Till late in the evening, the CBI team remained with the rape victim and her family at the irrigation department’s guest house in Unnao.
During the day, the CBI took the girl’s mother and grandmother to Makhi.
“At around 5.30 pm, the CBI took Shailu, Bauva and Sonu towards the spot where the girl’s father was beaten up. Experts photographed two stretches before sending the three accused back to the van,” the CBI officer said.
He added another team collected the report of criminal cases against Kuldeep and Atul from local intelligence unit.
“The victim’s uncle and the Unnao police have been asked to provide the list of cases filed against him (the uncle), father and other family members since June 2017,” he said.
CBI questioned the girl’s mother and grandmother and took them to the MLA’s house. Experts prepared a map and were seen measuring the exact distance between the houses of the victim and the MLA.
