LUCKNOW: Members of the Lucknow chapter of the UP medical and public health ministerial association, part of the health department, protested against the transfer policy for staff at TB hospital, Thakurganj, on Friday.

“For a couple of years, transfers have been troubling staff members. Particularly, incorrect transfers,” said Rajni Shukla, secretary of the Lucknow chapter of the association.

President of the Lucknow chapter of the association, Akhilesh Srivastava, who participated in the protest along with several other office bearers, said, “Employees suffering from chronic ailments have also been transferred although the policy offers relaxation to such staff.”

“These kind of transfers trouble the employees. They also necessitate the avoidable exercise of employees moving applications to get their transfers reverted,” he added.

Office bearers said that this year they had decided to register their protest in advance so that “all provisions were considered while transferring staff members”.

The agitating members also demanded that the transfer policy should be changed so that their cadre was merged with the ministerial staff working at the health directorate. “Ministerial staff at the directorate is not transferred. As we also work in the same capacity, the policy should be same,” said Shukla.
