BCCI to bar Railways employee kin in U19 team

NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket Board is likely to bar Railways from selecting players other than full-time employees in BCCI competitions, including the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy tournament. Indian sports’ biggest recruiters may have to disband their U-19 team if the BCCI technical panel’s recommendation is ratified by its general body. The move comes after it was found that children of Railway officials were being chosen in the team. Railways Sports Promotion Board secretary Rekha Yadav told PTI that Railways was helpless as it can neither pick ‘outsiders’ nor keep hiring “20 U-19 cricketers every year” for the team.
