CM welcomes decision to amend Pocso Act

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Centre’s decision to amend Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, a press statement issued by the CM’s office on Saturday night said.

The statement also said that the UP government had proposed to the Union government to make amendments in the existing laws to make provisions for death penalty for rape cases in which the victims were minors.

₹25 LAKH AID FOR CRPF ASI’S FAMILY

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced ex gratia of ₹25 lakh to the family of an Amethi-based CRPF jawan who was killed in an encounter with Naxalites in Sukma district of Chattisgar­h.

Assistant sub-inspector Anil Kumar Maurya was killed a gun battle between the security forces and Naxalites on Friday night. Yogi also asked the minister in-charge of Amethi to personally visit the family and offer condolence­s on behalf of the government, a spokesman said.
