SIKH JATHA YOUNGSTER MISSING

AMRITSAR : After Kiran Bala, a Hoshiarpur­based woman pilgrim, opted to stay in Pakistan by embracing Islam and marrying Lahore-based man, a youngster who was part of a Sikh jatha (pilgrim group) that travelled to Pakistan, went missing on Saturday.

Hailing from Niranjanpu­r, the missing youngster, Amarjit Singh travelled to Pakistan with the jatha but he did not return.

Officials of the immigratio­n department realised he was missing when they matched the arrival and departure records of the group.

Senior superinten­dent of police (Amritsarru­ral) Parampal Singh said they are investigat­ing the matter. He said a police team had been sent to the youngster’s residence for more details. The SGPC did not comment of whether the boy went on pilgriame through an organisati­on.
