SIKH JATHA YOUNGSTER MISSING
AMRITSAR : After Kiran Bala, a Hoshiarpurbased woman pilgrim, opted to stay in Pakistan by embracing Islam and marrying Lahore-based man, a youngster who was part of a Sikh jatha (pilgrim group) that travelled to Pakistan, went missing on Saturday.
Hailing from Niranjanpur, the missing youngster, Amarjit Singh travelled to Pakistan with the jatha but he did not return.
Officials of the immigration department realised he was missing when they matched the arrival and departure records of the group.
Senior superintendent of police (Amritsarrural) Parampal Singh said they are investigating the matter. He said a police team had been sent to the youngster’s residence for more details. The SGPC did not comment of whether the boy went on pilgriame through an organisation.
