-

LUCKNOW:An elderly woman was critically injured after three armed assailants attacked her with a knife after barging into her house in a crowded locality behind Oudh Gymkhana Club in Qaiserbagh here on Friday afternoon.

She suffered severe injuries on throat and other parts of the body and was undergoing treatment in trauma centre of King George’s Medical University.

In the incident, the woman’s son and his wife were also injured when they tried to stop the assailants. Police said the incident seemed to be the fallout of dispute over possession of the house in which the families are living but did not rule out possibility of loot bid behind the attack.

The victims Razia, 50, along with her husband Hafeez, son Naseer and daughter-in-law Shehzadi, stayed in a rented house in Shekhawat lane for past two years.

Hafeez and Naseer run a canteen in a Gomti Nagar school and the former was present in the canteen while Naseer was at home.

Shehzadi told the cops that her husband Naseer was in the bathroom when three assailants barged into the house and attacked her mother-in-law with knife. She said the assailants tried to slit Razia’s throat and caused deep injury marks.

“The assailants attacked me when I tried to rescue my motherin-law. They later also attacked my husband when he rushed out from the bathroom listening our screams,” she stated while narrating the sequence of event.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Vikas Chandra Tripathi said the victims had lodged an FIR of attack and suspected two persons, Javed and Aslam, who have dispute with their landlord Kalam Ahmad over possession of the house. He said the police however was probing all the possible motives behind the attack.
