LUCKNOW: Director general of police, OP Singh on Friday issued directives for constitution of media/social media cells across the state for better coordination between the police and the media.

These cells will be operational 24 hours and operate under supervision of district in-charges.

The cells will replace the existing PRO cells of the police in every district. They will have the status of a department of the UP police.

Under the district in-charge, there will be two inspector rank officers, one sub-inspector and three constables who will monitor daily activities of the cell.

In case of any mishap or emergency situation, the in-charge of the social media cell will provide relevant information – audio and video – to the media.

Apart from this, in case of any sensational incident, the district in-charge of the cell will upload audio and video statements of the district police chief on Twitter handle of the district police.

It may be pointed out that in every district, the UP police have a separate twitter handle. This is apart from the twitter handles being operated by the DGP’s office, Lucknow. The DGP has also issued instructions for holding press briefing in every district at 5pm. This media briefing will be held every day apart from public holidays.

THE DGP HAS ALSO ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOLDING PRESS BRIEFING IN EVERY DISTRICT AT 5PM
