ALLAHABAD The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will file a status report on its probe in the Unnao rape case in the Allahabad high court on Wednesday.

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, along with others, is an accused in the case.

The CBI will file the status report before the bench of chief justice DB Bhosale and justice Suneet Kumar, who had taken suo motu cognizance of the rape of a minor girl.

On April 13, the court had directed the CBI to arrest Sengar and also asked the investigating agency to file a status report on May 2.

The teenage girl has alleged that she was raped by the MLA at his residence on June 4, 2017 when she had gone to meet him with a relative to seek a job.

Her family approached court in February, seeking to include the MLA’s name in the case.

Thereafter, the police booked the girl’s father under the Arms Act on April 3 and put him in jail on April 5.
