Road rage: Doc ‘misbehaves’ with int’l level shooter
LUCKNOW: A doctor of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) allegedly misbehaved with an international level female shooter after ramming his car into the bike of the shooter’s brother. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she lodged a police complaint.
Doctor, Piyush Gupta, allegedly used foul language while arguing with sportsperson Vartika Singh.
In her complaint, the shooter said that she was riding pillion with her brother when Gupta rammed his car into their bike. They fell down which resulted in an argument.
Gupta allegedly threatened to hit her with a cricket bat he took out of his car. Singh said he pushed her and she fell near the PGI gate, but the guards there remained “mute spectators”.
She also said PGI administrator Bharat Singh pressurised her to withdraw her complaint. She met SSP Deepak Kumar on Tuesday who assured her of proper action in the matter.
Singh has represented India at shooting championship in Germany and Singapore in the junior level.
“I lodged an FIR against the doctor because he has no respect for women. He was ready to commit an even bigger crime of hitting me had I been alone. He threatened me under the influence of alcohol,” said Singh.
Director, SGPGIMS, professor Rakesh Kapoor said that the matter had been brought to his notice and if the doctor was found guilty, strict action would be taken against him.
