3 injured in clash over mango harvesting

LUCKNOW: A brawl over mango harvesting turned violent after one group attacked another with sharp edged weapons in Malihabad police circle here on Wednesday night.

Three people, including an elderly man, were severely injured in the clash .

Additional SP (ASP) Rural Gaurav Grover said the clash took place between two partners Anil and Sanjay, who had jointly purchased the mango orchard for harvesting and sale.

He said the two partners were of Badagaon village of Kakori, which comes under Malihabad police circle. He said the duo had a dispute over selling mangoes to different people .

Grover said the two partners initially agreed to sell mangoes jointly to customers and vendors. He said the clash took place when Sanjay and his brother Vijay got plucked the mangoes on Thursday and sold them to different customers without letting Anil know about it. An annoyed Anil straightwa­y approached Sanjay and his brother on Thursday night and had an argument which turned violent. Sanjay, his brother and other aides attacked Anil with sharp edged weapons. In the incident, Anil’s father Ram Chandra and his cousin brother Abhay were also injured when they turned up to rescue him, he added. Grover said the attackers fled the spot leaving the victims profusely bleeding. Some other villagers came to their help and took them to hospital. He said the victims were undergoing treatment while police were carrying out raids in search of the attackers after registerin­g an FIR in the matter. He said the case had been registered against the two brothers and their unidentifi­ed aides.
