LUCKNOW: A Railways employee was run over by a train while he was attending to it on platform No. 6 at Charbagh Railway Station on Thursday. The GRP called it an accident while the deceased’s kin accused the Railways of negligence. According to the GRP, the incident was reported around 12 noon when Ram Sagar, master craftsman, was attending to the Varanasi Intercity train.

“While attending to the train, he somehow lost his balance and came under the wheels,” said Nitya Nand Singh, inspector, GRP, Charbagh. “My husband was not well but still he was asked to join duty. Despite being a JE rank officer, he was not given helpers or security arrangements. There was a sudden jerk in the train and he came under the wheels. The department had not informed the train pilot and station master about the maintenance work,” said Savitri Devi, wife of Ram Sagar
