Boy thrashed, video goes viral
AHMEDABAD: A Dalit boy was thrashed for dressing up like Darbars (Kshatriyas) in Ahmedabad’s Mandal taluka, allegedly by two youth from the dominant caste, police said.
The Gujarat police on Thursday registered an FIR against two youth after a video went viral. It showed a 13-year-old being beaten with heavy stick, kicked in various parts of the body and made to touch the feet of the two accused. The incident happened on Wednesday.
“We have booked one Bhartsinh Darbar and another youth,” said Bechraji police inspector R R Solanki.
Solanki added, “The case has been registered for assault and atrocity.”
In Ahmedabad district, the Dalits have recently begun social media campaign where in they added the suffix Sinh to their name, which is traditionally attached to the names of Darbars.
It started after a clash between the two communities .
