CAR LIFTERS’ GANG BUSTED, TWO ARRESTED

LUCKNOW: The police busted a gang of car lifters on Monday and arrested two of its members from Indira Nagar. The accused used to prepare fake registrati­on and insurance papers by changing the chassis numbers of stolen cars.

Those arrested were identified as Aqil Ahmad and Sant Lal, both residents of Lucknow. Another gang member, Guddu, a native of Sitapur district, was absconding.

The cops recovered a car, fake registrati­on papers of several vehicles, fake number plates and cash from the accused.

The police got informatio­n about the car lifters moving near Aurobindo Park in Indira Nagar.

Acting on the informatio­n, inspector Vijay and other cops from the Indira Nagar police station reached the park.

They spotted a car in which two people were sitting. Before the miscreants could escape, the cops arrested them.

During interrogat­ion, both the car lifters revealed previous incidents of crime executed by them.

“Several cases are already lodged against the two car lifters at Indira Nagar police station. We are also checking whether any case is lodged against the two in adjoining districts,” said inspector Vijay.

Cops have launched a manhunt to arrest Guddu, third member of the gang.

AUTO-LIFTERS ARRESTED

In another incident, cops arrested two auto-lifters from near Sharda Canal under Gosaiganj police station on Monday and recovered one motorcycle.

Those arrested were identified as Shravan Kumar and Shiv Nandan of Lucknow. The cops also recovered one motorcycle from the duo.

According to cops, the Gosaiganj police got informatio­n about movement of two auto-lifters near Sharda Canal area.

Acting on the informatio­n, sub inspector Ram Vriksha Patel along with other cops reached Sharda Canal on Monday morning. Before the two auto-lifters could flee from the spot, cops managed to arrest them.
