GORAKHPUR Adeel Khan – brother of suspended paediatrician Dr Kafeel Khan and Kashif Jameel who was shot at in Gorakhpur on June 10 – has accused the police of trying to implicate the three brothers in a false case.

Talking to reporters at his residence in Rustampur on Monday, Adeel said: “The police are trying to implicate us in a false case as we have lodged a complaint against them with chief minister Yogi Adityanath and senior government officials.”

He alleged that the police were working under the pressure of BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan.

“Having failed to arrest the culprits who attacked my brother, the police are now trying to frame us in a fake case by changing the date on an old complaint filed by one Muzaffar Alam, a resident of Sheikhpur,” Adeel said.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gorakhpur, Shalabh Mathur said the allegations levelled by Adeel were baseless and fair investigation was being carried out in the case. “The culprits will be arrested soon,” he said.

Two days ago, Adeel also circulated messages on social media accusing the police of torturing Ashish Srivastava, a helper of Dr Kafee l, forcing him to make a fake confession that Kashif had planned an attack on himself.

The Kotwali police let off Ashish on Monday.

Earlier on Friday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had asked the SSP to expedite investigation and arrest the people involved in the attack on Kashif.

TWO DAYS AGO, ADEEL ALSO CIRCULATED MESSAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA ACCUSING THE POLICE OF TORTURING ASHISH SRIVASTAVA, A HELPER OF DR KAFEE L
