LUCKNOW: The five-member lawmakers’ panel has hauled up the LDA and Ansal API, the developer of Sushant Golf City hitech township, for giving misleading information related to the project and duping thousands of allottees by not making timely delivery of their houses.

“There was a mismatch in the information provided by the LDA and the realtor over the progress of township. We initially thought the problem related to only the complaints made by home-buyers over the inordinate delay in delivery of their flats/plots. But a closer scrutiny of the documents related to the township reveals that the fraud with people and farmers, whose land has been earmarked for the township was being played out by the developer with the help and connivance of LDA officials,” said Vinod Katiyar, the convenor of the probe panel set up the Uttar Pradesh government to inquire into home-buyers complaints and large scale violations in the township.

The fact-finding panel had summoned principal secretary housing, Nitin Ramesh Gokarn, LDA vice chairman Prabhu Narain Sing and chief executive officer of Ansal API Dhirendra Giri and other senior officials on Tuesday to examine the status report submitted by LDA on the project.

“The developer and LDA offi- cials have been issued a warning not to fudge figures and try to mislead us on the issue or else they could land behind bars for at least seven years,” said Katiyar adding that he has fixed July 20 for next hearing in the matter.

“It was shocking to know that the developer has sold land, which has not even acquired. The magnitude of the problem seems to be much bigger and the issue raises some serious questions about the role of officials who kept silent all this while,” said Amitabh Bajpai, Samajwadi Party MLA on the panel.

Consequently, keeping in mind the size of the township and serious nature of violations, the committee has decided to focus on the anomalies in first phase of 1765-acres out of 6565 acres of its total area, he said.

The developer, which was asked to provide details of number of EWS and LIG houses it has built, has now been asked to furnish information on five other issues.

This includes arrangement for solid waste management, completion and no objection certificates from pollution control board and other competent authorities, provision of rain water harvesting , sewage treatment plant and power sub-station etc.
