Ashutosh Tandon inspects ongoing Metro work
LUCKNOW: Minister of technical and medical education Ashutosh Tandon inspected the ongoing construction work of Lucknow Metro from KD Singh Babu Stadium to Munshipulia here on Thursday.
Tandon looked over the special span of 60 meters on Gomti bridge and also the construction work of metro stations.
He praised the LMRC for quick work and international class construction of metro stations.
Managing director, LMRC, Kumar Keshav briefed Tandon about the specialties of the Lucknow Metro.
Meanwhile, the LMRC received the 16th Metro train set at its Transport Nagar metro depot on Thursday.
The trains, which were being manufactured by Alstom Transport at their manufacturing plant in Sri City (Andhra Pradesh), were transported by road through special trailers, informed Keshav.
“This set of metro train was dispatched for Lucknow on June 14, from Sri City. This time it took a longer duration to reach Lucknow owing to incessant rain, bad weather and the traffic problems,” said Keshav.
Each Metro coach (car) is loaded on a special trailer having 64 wheels that carries it to the depot from its manufacturing unit.
A 180 tonne crane is used to unload the 40 tonne car using a special spreader at the metro depot.
All necessary trials had been conducted at the manufacturing plant, said Keshav and added that only dynamic trials of the train were now required to be done at the Transport Nagar depot.
