LDA serves eviction notices to 25 tenants

LUCKNOW:The Lucknow Developmen­t Authority has served eviction notices to its 25 tenants on Thursday who have not paid rent for the past several years.

The developmen­t authority served notices to 19 tenants at Nirala Nagar colony and six at Vivekanand Puri colony.

Rajiv Kumar, officer on special duty, LDA, said that eviction notices have been served to 25 tenants who have failed to clear their rents. According to Kumar, a large number of tenants of the developmen­t authority have not paid rent. “We are sending eviction notices to all such tenants,” said Kumar.

“It is an ongoing exercise. We are identifyin­g LDA’s such rented properties whose tenants have not paid rents for the past several years,” pointed out Kumar. The developmen­t authority is in the process of selling its rented properties to tenants. For this, the LDA has also organised special registry camps.

In addition to this, around 550 properties of the LDA are in illegal possession.

Talab, Balda Road colony, Lalkuan, Paper Mill Colony, Akbari Gate, Tilak Nagar, Chowk, Billochpur­a, Lawrence Terrace, Aishbagh and Hata Khuda Baksh among others.

It may be pointed out that the LDA is also taking action against illegal restaurant­s and hotels running from residentia­l places in Gomti Nagar and other parts of the city. The developmen­t authority has identified more than 100 such illegal restaurant­s and hotels that are being run from residentia­l places instead of commercial complexes.

Of late, the developmen­t authority has been flooded with complaints related to restaurant­s running from residentia­l houses. Most of these complaints were from Gomti Nagar.

According to Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, LDA officer, more than 100 restaurant­s and hotels running illegally from residentia­l houses have been identified in Gomti Nagar and other parts of the city.
