Principal held after video showing hidden camera in girls’ toilet goes viral
GORAKHPUR : The police on Thursday arrested four persons, including a school principal, her brother and two suspended teachers after a video showing a man installing a hidden camera in a girls’ toilet on the school premises went viral in Maharajganj district.
Ankho Puro, principal of Everest English school, located on Padri road, and her brother Aisjo were arrested along with two suspended teachers after several angry parents reached the school and blamed the authorities for the incident. Heavy police force was called in to pacify them. The teachers, identified Ashwini Gupta and Vijay Bahadur, were suspended between Feb 21 and March 30 as disciplinary action.
“They have been booked under sections 66 / 67 of IT Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.During preliminary probe, it was found that brother of the school principal installed the hidden camera while the two teachers leaked the videos recorded in the camera .
Further investigation is underway ,” said ASP Ashutosh Shukla. The two minute long video, showing a man installing the camera has been in circulation on social media since March. Recorded footage of girls was also leaked on social sites, drawing outrage from people. One of the suspended teachers reportedly found the camera, took it out and leaked the recorded footage. Principal Ankho from Nagaland denied having any knowledge about the camera saying she has just returned after the vacation.
