Arjun’s winning run continues in tennis

LUCKNOW: Unseeded Arjun Singh continued with his winning streak even on the penultimat­e day of the AITA Talent Series, outplaying fifth seed Parth Ratra 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-2 to make it to the boys under-14 singles final, at the SDS Tennis Academy here on Thursday.

Parth was up 4-2 in the second set but then succumbed to some sprinted play by Arjun, who had earlier defeated eight seed Lakshya Tikoo and second seed Om Yadav. Now, he plays top seeded Vikesh Chaurasia in the final. Vikesh also made it to the in the under-12 final, where he meets Parth Patra.

SCHOOL SOCCER

The 17th Inter-School Football Tournament begins on July 24, at the Chowk Stadium with the participat­ion of 32 teams from the city. The tournament will be played on league-cum-knock-out basis. Last date of entry is July 20. Meanwhile, sub-junior football team trials will take place on July 9, at the Chowk Stadium. Regional trials will follow this on July 10.

CONVINCING WIN

Asha Foundation scored a convincing eight-wicket win against Star Montessori Club in a league match of the 3rd Under-16 Sandeep Trophy Cricket Tournament here on Thursday. Shivam Shakya took three wickets, whereas Abhishek Singh, Ritesh Shukla and Ashutosh Mishra shared six wickets between them as SMC collapsed for paltry 82 in 27.4 overs. In reply, Asha Foundation romped home in 17.2 overs.

ARYAVART TROPHY

LDA Coaching Centre defeated Panther Cricket Academy by four wickets and collected full points in the 2nd Aryavart Trophy Cricket Tournament here. In other matches of the day, K Sports routed Microlit Club by 10 wickets.
