Efforts being made to develop Sonbhadra as tourist hub: CM
VARANASI: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said the Uttar Pradesh and the central governments were making concerted efforts to develop Sonbhadra as a tourist destination since the district was endowed with natural beauty.
The chief minister was addressing a gathering at a mass marriage ceremony of 1001 girls organised on district institute of education and training premises in the district.
“Sharing boundaries with four states, Sonbhadra enjoys blessing of the nature. It has a number of beautiful sites. The district has Salkhan Fossils Park. It has immense potential for tourism. The governments at the centre and the state are making continuous efforts to take Sonbhadra to new heights of development,” Yogi said.
Along with the development, he said, the state government with the support of the central government will also bring up facilities required in the district to make it a tourist destination.
Tourism will create employment opportunities for the people of the district, the chief minister said.
He also hinted at promoting village tourism in the district.
The chief minister further said development will be ensured in the villages in remote areas of the district. In his speech, Yogi also mentioned various religious places, including

Amila Dham, Kundari Devi, Baba Machhendra Nath and Shiv Dwar temples and others, located in the district.
The chief minister said the mass marriage scheme was one of the best schemes of the state government. Under the scheme, marriage of 20,000 girls of financially weaker section families in the state had been solemnised so far.
Yogi said dowry system must come to an end as it had become a major challenge the society was faced with today.
The chief minister also said all welfare schemes were being implemented in the state without any discrimination. Benefits of the schemes were given to all sections of the society, he said.
On the occasion, Yogi also blessed all 1001 newly-wed couples. He gave marriage certificates to seven of the newlywed couples. The 1001 newly-wed couples comprised 973 Hindus, 22 Muslims and six Christian.
The chief minister also distributed tricycles to 101 divyangs (physically challenged) on the occasion.
Besides, Yogi gave away school bags to schoolchildren. He instructed the district officials to come up with schemes/ plans for making tribal women economically independent. The chief minister declared Babhani block open defecation free (ODF).
Union minister of state for health and family welfare Anupriya Patel, UP social welfare minister Ramapati Shastri and several other party MLAs were present on the occasion.
