The SC appoints Lodha committee to look into functioning of BCCI and suggest changes to its constitution, following the IPL 2013 betting and spot-fixing scandal.
JAN 4, 2016
Committee recommends overhaul. Key directives are one-man-one-post, one-state-one-vote, age limit of 70 years, and appointment of an Apex council.
FEB 4, 2016
SC declares March 3, 2016 as the deadline for BCCI to implement the reforms, after seeing the BCCI hadn’t given any formal response on the same.
MAR 2, 2016
BCCI affidavit states it has implemented few reforms. Disagrees with the one-state-one-vote rule, 70-years age cap and restriction on ads during broadcast of matches.
JUL 18, 2016
SC passes its judgment and asks the BCCI to implement majority of Lodha Committee recommendations within four to six months.
SEP 21, 2016
BCCI conducts AGM and defies Lodha reforms by picking a five-member selection panel for the men’s, women’s and junior teams as opposed to a three-member panel.
OCT 21, 2016
After BCCI misses the first deadline of Sep 30, SC orders restriction on BCCI spending or distributing funds to members if they don’t implement all reforms.
DEC 2, 2016
The BCCI continues to oppose certain Lodha reforms during its latest Special General Meeting (SGM).
DEC 15, 2016
BCCI president Anurag Thakur is accused of perjury; verdict date on January 3.
JAN 2, 2017
Thakur and BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke are removed from their posts by SC for not complying with its orders.
JAN 30, 2017
SC names a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to supervise BCCI. The panel comprised of Ramachandra Guha, Diana Edulji, Vinod Rai and Vikram Limaye.
JUN 1, 2017
Guha resigns citing personal reasons. JUL 12, 2017
CoA complains to SC, in its fourth status report, that N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah made numerous attempts to stall implementation of Lodha reforms.S
JUL 24, 2017
Srinivasan and Shah are barred by SC from attending BCCI SGM scheduled for July 26.
AUG 16, 2017
CoA submits its fifth status report in which it urges the SC to remove the current BCCI top brass for not implementing the Lodha reforms.
OCT 30, 2017
A draft constitution is submitted, incorporating suggestions of the Lodha panel on reforms. The court decides to hear BCCI’s suggestions on November 29.
NOV 9, 2017
SC gives the BCCI and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry 14 days’ time to submit response to allegations of a threat being made to CFO Santosh Rangnekar.
AUG 9, 2018
Originally, only one term of 3 years was mandated before cooling off but new SC order allows office-bearers two consecutive terms before the cooling off period.
