‘DECLARE SOOLI WALA BAGH AS NATIONAL SHAHEED STHAL’
MUZAFFARNAGAR: Thousands of people in Purqazi area here participated in a Tiranga Yatra at Sooli Wala Bagh to pay homage to freedom fighters. “After the First War for Independence in 1857, more than 400 freedom fighters were hanged at Sooli Wala Bagh,” said nagar panchayat chairman Zaheer Farooqi, under whose leadership the event was organised. He said Sooli Wala Bagh should be declared as a National ‘Shaheed Sthal’ as it was a long pending demand of residents. Since many years, Purqazi residents have been gathering at Sooli Wala to pay homage to martyrs.
