UP PCS Assn seeks judicial probe into officer’s tiff with retd colonel
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh PCS Association on Friday demanded an independent judicial inquiry into a PCS officer’s tiff with retired colonel Virendra Singh Chauhan as well as the registration of criminal cases against him.
The officer, Harishchandra, is the outgoing Gautam Buddh Nagar additional district magistrate.

In a joint letter to chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey, association president Umesh Pratap Singh and general secretary Pawan Kumar Gangwar said the dispute between the suspended Noida ADM and the retired colonel was unfortunate. The association, they added, had all the sympathy for the ex-army officer.
“But the way the criminal case was registered against Harischandra as well his family members under tough provisions, including section 307 of the IPC, and the harassment unleashed by the police is condemnable,” they said.
They said Harischcandra, in a representation to the association, had alleged that the retired colonel who lived in the flat just below his in sector 29, Noida. Harishchandra also claimed Harishchandra had been misbehaving with his (ADM) wife, using casteist words for a long time.
Harishchandra, according to them, had also said in the same letter, that the retired army officer lodged a cross-FIR on the basis of concocted facts four days after the incident.
The association said the CCTV footages of the incident were also available to prove that Harischchandra or any of his family members did nothing that amounted to attempt to murder.
They alleged the DM and the SSP of Gautam Buddh Nagar had not acted impartially in the matter.
“The PCS Association, therefore demands an independent judicial inquiry into the matter to bring out the truth,” they said.
