LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority has decided to seize properties of around 11 developers who are facing charges of cheating home buyers and constructing illegal colonies.

Vice chairman of LDA PN Singh has issued directives for action against these 11 developers who have been identified by the development authority.

After the go ahead, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, nazool officer, LDA, has started initiating action against these developers.

“Around 11 illegal colonies have been identified. Development

charges will be realised from developers of these colonies and their properties will also be seized,” said Mishra.

Most of these illegal colonies are located in Gomti Nagar and Gomti Nagar extension.

At present, the LDA’s focus is on illegal colonies in these areas.

Thereafter, illegal colonies in other parts of the city will also face action.

LDA officers claim that they are probably the first in the state to take such an action against developers.

The development authority has decided to take action against Ropeway Emporium of the Royal View Infra Heights Builder whose group housing is coming up at Sarsawa, Arjunganj.

“The construction activity is going on without getting map approved from the Lucknow Development Authority,” said Mahindra Kumar Mishra, LDA official.

Apart from this, the LDA has also identified illegal buildings on Victoria Street, Hardoi Road, Meerabai Marg and Sardari Kheda (Alambagh).

The development authority has given 15 days to builders of these illegal structures to raze their illegal constructions. After this period, the LDA will demolish them.

To note, illegal colonies without Lucknow Development Authority’s approval have sprung up all over the city. However, for this malaise, LDA officials are also responsible to a large extent as they turn a blind eye during construction activity, allege reidents.
